Optimizing Your Energy: What You Need to Know

Studies have shown that the majority of adults in the United States of America do not have enough energy. 31 percent of adults even describe themselves as having severe fatigue that is considered to be disabling even.

Why is this? First of all, the average night’s sleep for adults is seven hours. Adults are meant to get eight to nine hours of solid sleep. That may seem like an insignificant change but it adds up. Also, the nutrients that we need are typically destroyed in the processes that our food undergoes before we eat it.

So what’s the solution? Luckily, we have some tips for you:

1. Get enough sleep.

Getting eight to nine hours of quality sleep per night is absolutely essential. Sleep replenishes your body, and it heals the muscles. If you are feeling like you don’t have enough time to get the sleep you need maybe try cutting back on the TV after work.

2. Eat healthy and energizing foods.

Eating whole foods and whole grains is important. You also want to decrease your sugar intake and consume more protein. You can also enjoy morning smoothies with the addition of powders that provide greens and superfoods.

3. Get exercise.

Even if you only walk for 20 minutes a day, that is better than nothing. Having fun when you exercise will make it more effective. Try zumba or water aerobics. Or try having more sex!

4. Do more of what makes you happy.

Of course you aren’t going to have a lot of energy if you are forcing yourself out of bed every day to go to a job you hate. Find out what makes you happy and do it. If you can’t switch jobs right now, try to incorporate more activities that you enjoy into your day.

The point is that you can find ways to increase your energy if you just take care of yourself and of your body. You will be surprised how much of a difference little changes can make.
